Upper Arm Lift in Bangkok, Thailand

Working out, eating well, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the key to getting a trim and toned body. Following a fitness routine may also improve underlying muscle tone. This has been the advice given by many health experts over the past few years.

But while staying in good health does help keep patients fit, the technique does not work in helping others shed excess skin and fat, even if they strictly follow a fitness routine or go on a diet. In these cases, a plastic surgeon may recommend an arm lift procedure as the medical treatment.

Anesthesia
The clinician will administer medications for the patient’s comfort prior to the start of the Arm Lift Surgery. The doctor may administer medications through intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

Incision
The length and pattern of the incision during Arm Lift Surgery will depend on the amount and the location of the excess skin to be removed. Generally, the surgeon would place the incisions on the inside of the patient’s arm and may extend it to just above the elbow.

After the incisions have been made, the doctor will remove fat, and tighten and reshape the underlying supportive tissue in the patient’s arm using internal sutures. The skin will then be shaped over the new contours.

Closing
The surgeon may close the incisions using both absorbable sutures and stitches. The removable stitches will be removed within one week to 10 days after the surgery.

In some cases, the plastic surgeon may place small tubes in the surgical site. These tubes are temporary and are placed to help drain any excess fluid following the upper arm lift procedure.

Unlike other cosmetic surgeries, arm lifts could take between two to three hours to complete, depending on the amount of excess fat to be removed.

Post-operative care
Following Upper Arm Lift Surgery, the clinician will apply dressings or elastic bandages on the incisions. The patient’s arms may also be wrapped in an elastic bandage to minimize swelling and reduce the recovery time.

‍Common post-operative care recommendations also include:
  • Avoiding arm activities for up to two months
  • Keeping the wound clean and dry
  • Taking the stitches off a week after the surgery
  • Attending all follow-up appointments
